I enjoy building. Within a week of joining Second Life, I began my quest to learn. I’m not an especially accomplished builder, but the things I’ve built are of my own design. I’ve spent a lot of time with tutorials, and I just may have right clicked every object I’ve come across in SL! Recently I began taking classes and I am simply amazed at the things there are to know…the things I need to know. My hunger goes unsated. So I’ve decided to join the teaching realm; to pass on what I’ve learned, and to learn from those who began before me.
With that said, let me tell you about the Second Life Learning Centre! I found it quite by accident. I was perusing tutorials at Tutorials 2 Go and found a landmark to the Centre. Immediately I joined the group, and within a day attended a jewelry class taught by Tesoro Loon. I was impressed and amazed at the ease of following along. The classroom was full and laid out nicely with a desk and chair for each of it’s eager students, I myself one of them. I left with a new bracelet, the class notes and supplies and I ran home to make 15 more of them. Hee! Then I waited…for the next class announcement. I’ve attended all but two of Tesoro’s jewelry classes and can’t wait to catch him teaching one of those.
Then I gathered up my nerve and contacted the SLLC Dean, Lady Hathaway. I only thought I was ready to teach! I can honestly say that teaching at the SLLC is not just tossing out some coordinates in hopes that the students get it. There is a reason behind the success of this Centre. Lady is a strict, albeit sweetly so Dean, and she tests’ her teachers sternly. Class notes must be approved and mock classes must be held to ensure that all of your ducks waddle and quack accordingly.
I am currently a “student teacher” at the Learning Centre. I held my first class last night, which was to build a cylinder aquarium complete with scripted fish, bubbles and a plant, and I am pleased to announce it a success! I’ll be doing it again. So watch the Events! The teachers are posting classes daily…and new teachers are constantly coming onboard. Check it out! http://sllearningcentre.com/

Aquarium can also be altered and used as an isolation chamber for partners who have been bad!
