The Nifty Shez in Second Life

Teaching at the Second Life Learning Centre April 22, 2008

I enjoy building.  Within a week of joining Second Life, I began my quest to learn.  I’m not an especially accomplished builder, but the things I’ve built are of my own design.  I’ve spent a lot of time with tutorials, and I just may have right clicked every object I’ve come across in SL!    Recently I began taking classes and I am simply amazed at the things there are to know…the things I need to know.  My hunger goes unsated.   So I’ve decided to join the teaching realm; to pass on what I’ve learned, and to learn from those who began before me.

With that said, let me tell you about the Second Life Learning Centre!  I found it quite by accident.   I was perusing tutorials at  Tutorials 2 Go and found a landmark to the Centre.  Immediately I joined the group, and within a day attended a jewelry class taught by Tesoro Loon.  I was impressed and amazed at the ease of following along.  The classroom was full and laid out nicely with a desk and chair for each of it’s eager students, I myself one of them.  I left with a new bracelet, the class notes and supplies and I ran home to make 15 more of them. Hee!  Then I waited…for the next class announcement.   I’ve attended all but two of Tesoro’s jewelry classes and can’t wait to catch him teaching one of those.

Then I gathered up my nerve and contacted the SLLC Dean, Lady Hathaway.  I only thought I was ready to teach!  I can honestly say that teaching at the SLLC is not just tossing out some coordinates in hopes that the students get it.  There is a reason behind the success of this Centre.  Lady is a strict, albeit sweetly so Dean, and she tests’ her teachers sternly.   Class notes must be approved and mock classes must be held to ensure that all of your ducks waddle and quack accordingly.

I am currently a “student teacher” at the Learning Centre.   I held my first class last night, which was to build a cylinder aquarium complete with scripted fish, bubbles and a plant,  and I am pleased to announce it a success!  I’ll be doing it again.  So watch the Events!  The teachers are posting classes daily…and new teachers are constantly coming onboard.  Check it out! http://sllearningcentre.com/

Aquarium can also be altered and used as an isolation chamber for partners who have been bad!

~New 7 Seas Fishing Area~ April 10, 2008

Yay we’re back and the links are all fixed!  With that said, I’d like to announce my new fishing area in Dolphin Isle.  Not too long ago I visited the 7 Seas area in SL and fell in love with what I’d found.  7 Seas is a new fishing game that’s running rampant in SL.  It would seem that it’s quite popular too!  I bought myself a pole and some bait and went fishing.  What fun!  The fish I caught were so cute and can be worn as pets.

So I purchased a vendor and me and the partner sat up our own fishing area in Dolphin Isle.  Dolphin Isle is a beautiful island surrounded by sea.  There are clubs and shops and gardens to visit, as well as the new fishing area that we’ve just set up.  We’ll be holding tournaments on a regular basis, which will pay prize monies as well as rare and super rare fishies to the winner.   Come check us out!  You’ll be glad you did, and once you buy that pole and start drowning worms, you’ll surely be addicted.

“Timeless Club and Forest Caves ~ PecLech 61/14/25 February 18, 2008

Today MoxZ was bored.  We sat around the house for awhile and toyed with the inventory…delete, delete, delete, you know the routine.   Considered building something but yawned…we put some things on OnRez yesterday and learned how to use their vendors so now there’s one in the store.  So I patted MoxZ on the back and proposed that we go exploring!

On Sugar!  Sugar is MoxZ’s gorgeous pibald paint who hails from AKK.  One of the finest horse farms in all of SL.  We found Sugar on OnRez. There’s nothing like exploring SL from the back of a very well scripted horse.

So we pulled out the hotspot HUD and away we went!  First stop, the beautiful ——

When first we arrived the club was empty.  It was obviously too early in the afternoon for any club goers to be kicking up a party in there, but then I noticed behind me that a beautiful forest was rezzing.  I decided now was a good time to get a drink and to give this sim a moment to blaze up in all it’s glory.

Serene in a Timeless Forest

The landscaping was so rich and mossy green, you could almost smell the dirt beneath it.  The music was ambient, it made me think of dragonflies.

Turquoise streams

The streams gleamed with turquoise pride, they beckoned us so we decided to follow them and find out where they led.

The valley down below

They led us to a valley of red trees and reflections.  Not a soul in sight, it was peaceful and serene.  It was water in stereo.

No matter which way I turn...

I’ve heard it told that when you see a cave, you should always go inside.   There are treasures to be found inside almost always!

The Treasure!

Squee!  It’s the treasure!  I’m so glad that I took a photo.  This is a three squee sim people and is definately worth your time to explore it.

But before we left there was but one more place to ride.

On the Ridge

We noticed the skyline and the rocks on it’s ridge.  Isn’t it gorgeous?!  What a romantic view…

Then back home I went.  Pleased with myself for finding my way to this exquisite and artful sim.  Three SQUEES!

Ok, can anyone tell me what has happened to MoxZ?  Anyone?

She was minding her own business, chasing sploders and landed on a particurely crowded sim.  So she took a chair and waited for the location of the sploder to rezzz….slowly.  Impatience overcame and so she stood.  And became THIS!

As such, it did not appear that she was going to revert to her former svelte figure.  Might someone else in competition for the sploder cast an evil spell upon MoxZ? Or was it the lag? Nonetheless MoxZ was so mortified by her appearance that she promptly teleported home.  As you can see by my pictorial evidence, teleporting home had no effect in correcting this horrid situation.  So MoxZ called upon a friend for witness.  Said friend was busy teaching a building class, so MoxZ was teleported to her friend.  Upon her arrival friend said, “you look fine MoxZ”.

 WTF?
